Our Services
-
To ensure therapy is individually tailored and focused on what matters most, we begin with a joint 60-minute assessment led by both our speech and language therapist and our CBT therapist. This shared appointment allows us to understand not only how the stammer presents in speech, but also how it feels, what influences it day to day, and whether any patterns of worry, avoidance or pressure are present.
During the assessment we talk through your background, your experience of stammering or stuttering, and any thoughts or feelings that come up around speaking. We explore communication situations that feel comfortable, and those that feel more challenging, so that our recommendations are realistic, compassionate and relevant.
At the end of the session, we will agree a therapy plan together. This includes identifying the first areas to prioritise, deciding whether SLT, CBT or a combined approach would be most supportive, and setting clear goals at a pace that feels manageable. The aim is to ensure that therapy feels joined-up, collaborative and genuinely tailored to you.

For early years and younger primary children, therapy is indirect and centred around parents. We work with you to reduce pressure around speaking, support fluent and relaxed communication at home, and build your child’s confidence in how they express themselves.
-
As children gain awareness of their speech, therapy becomes more collaborative and reflective. We explore how stammering works, may build tools for blocks and tension, and support confidence in social and classroom speaking situations. Parents and schools may be involved, so your child experiences clear and joined-up support.
-
Therapy for teenagers focuses on both speech and the emotional experience of stammering or stuttering. We work on understanding patterns of speech difficulty, managing avoidance or anxiety around speaking, and developing strategies that feel natural and sustainable. Independence is respected, while parents can remain appropriately involved where helpful for progress and reassurance.
-
Adult therapy is individual and tailored. Some adults seek support with communication anxiety or avoidance, while others want help with speech techniques for blocks or physical struggle. We explore what influences your stammer, how it impacts daily communication and identity, and what changes you would like to see. Our aim is to support choice, comfort and autonomy in how you speak.
-
Many clients benefit from working with both a speech and language therapist and a CBT therapist. This joint approach supports both the physical aspects of stammering, such as blocks and tension, and the emotional or cognitive experience, including worry, avoidance and self-judgement. You can work with one clinician or both, depending on your goals.
-
Sessions can be booked individually or in structured therapy blocks. Block bookings offer a clear plan, consistent pace and space for meaningful progress across a defined number of weeks.

All therapy is delivered online, offering flexibility around school, work and family commitments. We set goals together at the beginning and review them regularly, ensuring therapy remains focused, comfortable and aligned with what matters to you. Liaison with parents, schools or employers is offered whenever it supports progress.
